Pattaya can be one of the cheapest places in Thailand to live comfortably, or one of the more expensive, and the difference is almost entirely about which street you live on and how often you eat Western food.

The annual costs on top
- Visa extension, re-entry permit, and any agent fee.
- One or two flights home.
- Insurance excess if you claim.
- Dentistry and optical.
- Replacing a phone, a laptop, or an air conditioner.
- Two months' deposit if you move condo.
Add roughly one to two months of extra spending across the year and you have a realistic annual figure.
The three levers that move the number most
- Rent. Moving two streets back from the beach can cut it by a third.
- Where you eat. Thai food daily versus Western food daily is the biggest single swing in this table.
- Air conditioning. Running it all night through the hot season is a meaningful monthly cost.
